About Oaks

Oaks is part German Shorthaired Pointer, part German Shepherd, and he’s about 1.5 years old. At roughly 48 pounds, he’s a healthy, medium-sized dog with the stamina and long legs that make him a natural walking or jogging partner. He lives with a big foster family—six kids (as young as age two) and six other dogs—and handles the chaos with an easygoing temperament. Oaks is house trained, used to a doggy door, and rides well in the car. He bonds tightly with his people, is quietly protective at home, and does well with children, ideally age eight and up. He gets along with other dogs but is a bit timid meeting new people and benefits from slow introductions. His foster is helping him feel comfortable in new situations. Oaks is smart and mellow, but don’t count on him fetching—you’ll need to do that yourself. He’s neutered and up to date on vaccinations, healthy, and ready for adoption. While based in Texas, Oaks can also be transported to approved states outside Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
