About Shadow
Shadow has been through more upheaval than most dogs ever will. Originally rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico, he found love in Tampa Bay—only to lose his home after a tough cross-country move triggered severe anxiety. When a second shot at family finally arrived, his declining vision and growing health issues led to another heartbreak. He returned to rescue, overweight and swollen-ankled, carrying more emotional baggage than any dog should have to bear. Thankfully, a thyroid condition was discovered and with daily medication, a healthy diet, and regular care, Shadow is starting to feel a little more like himself again. His vision loss might be tied to his thyroid, and ongoing evaluation is giving him a better chance at a comfortable life. Despite every setback, Shadow's gentle, affectionate nature has never faded. He thrives on companionship and seeks out close bonds with his people. Shadow needs a calm, patient environment—ideally with no cats—where he can keep healing and finally feel the steadiness he craves. He gets along with other dogs and is house trained, bringing more positives to the table for the right family. Shadow has had enough instability.
