About Brutus
Brutus is a goofy, sweet, and trusting dog who comes alive on outdoor adventures. He loves car rides once he settles in, and trails or parks bring out his playful, sniff-happy side. Whether he’s zooming down five miles of woodland path, chasing balls into the ocean waves, or hiking hills, his energy and curiosity shine through. Brutus enjoys positive interactions on walks, greeting new humans and calmly observing passing strangers without fuss. He remains focused on his handler, looking for engagement and a steady supply of treats to keep him tuned in. Brutus can be a strong puller, especially when curious about other dogs or critters, so he'll need ongoing leash training with someone confident and willing to keep practicing. At home, Brutus is a snuggler who settles in nicely when familiar. He quickly learns routines, chooses his crate or mat at bedtime, and is perfectly potty and crate trained. He rarely barks or chews inappropriately, and plays beautifully with his toys. When meeting children, he’s relaxed and gentle, but his rescue team recommends an adult household where he gets loving, patient guidance and the calm environment he prefers. Brutus loves women and thrives on their attention, and he bonds strongly with his main person. Crowded or noisy places overwhelm him, and he can be sensitive or shy in new situations, so he will do best with adopters who understand anxious dogs and can spend time socializing him at his pace. He’s not reactive or aggressive with dogs, but is unsure how to play and can be fixated, sometimes guarding his person—a home as the only dog may suit him best. Brutus is happiest with gentle treatment, attention, sturdy stuffies to carry, and enough adventure to keep life interesting. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
