Fiona is a Boston Terrier and American Bulldog mix who has already seen more than her share of tough times. Pulled from a euthanasia list and brought to safety, she's still learning how to trust after a history of neglect and abandonment. There’s a little shyness to her when you first meet, but that fades quickly once she realizes she’s safe—then you’ll see her come alive, tail wagging and heart wide open. Fiona greets everyone warmly and especially loves gentle attention or curling up in a cozy blanket for security. Her expressive ears and soulful face make her memorable to everyone she meets. At just over three years old, Fiona may appear older due to her hard upbringing, but her spirit is intact. She gets along well with other calm dogs and may benefit from a companion dog in her new home. Though she’s not yet housetrained, she readily responds to gentle guidance and seems eager to please. She’s learning to walk on leash—she still pulls, probably from a pent-up urge to enjoy life and finally move at her own pace. Fiona is recovering from heartworm treatment, so she needs a calm environment and low activity for the time being.
