About Shiva & Red Aka
Shiva is an outstanding cat. She is exceptionally friendly, laid back, petite and super soft. Sometimes she can be aloof and she will sit back and silently supervise. Although she was living on the street, she has obviously known love from humans because she seeks out attention and wants human companionship. We know some of her history. In January 2025, Shiva was observed going door to door in a neighborhood meowing loudly at every front door, asking to be let in as she looked up longingly at the door knob. In April, we were contacted by a member of our community and asked if we could help Shiva and her five, nursing kittens, who were left behind when a tenant moved out. Several cat-loving people networked on their behalf to ensure that Shiva and her five, mini-me boys landed safely. A lovely family of big-hearted humans, including two young boys, opened their home as a safe haven and by doing so, gave this precious cat family sanctuary. We are deeply grateful for all of the many people who protected this vulnerable cat family along the way. How would this little family get the help they needed if not for your kindness and generosity? Sweet Shiva and her rambunctious family of playful, joyful kittens are all ready for adoption. “Red aka Viper” is a shy boy. He is very mellow and loves, loves, loves his mama. He should be adopted with a sibling or Shiva. Red needs a cat friend to be happy. In his foster home, he adores the resident adult cat. When Red accepts you, he will let you love on him. When he is frightened, he communicates his feelings. He does hiss at the vet and he is spicy outside the comfort of his foster home but even when he is afraid, he is a very good boy. -------------- Thank you for wanting to Adopt! Cat Welfare Advocates is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill organization based in San Jose, CA. We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat. By adopting a cat, you're making a commitment to provide love, care, and medical treatment for the life of the cat, which can be up to 20 years or more. E-mail us at info@catwelfareadvocates.org to request an adoption application. Don't forget to mention which kitty you are interested in!
