About Sonora
Sonora’s story started tough—she was found abandoned with a head injury and sick as a puppy, but some kind hikers rescued her from the mountains of Sonora, Mexico. After lots of care, she’s healthy and ready to find a family. Sonora is a striking mix of Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chihuahua, Boxer, Great Dane, Pit Bull, and Peruvian Inca Orchid, and checks all the boxes for smarts, energy, and personality. She’s gone through formal training and multiple foster homes, learning a lot along the way, but she’ll need someone experienced to keep up her momentum. She loves to run, play, and cuddle—her energy is impressive and she’ll do best with another high-energy dog in the house, plus a yard for her daily zoomies. Walks are a favorite, but Sonora can get reactive on the leash, so her adopter must be ready to give her boundaries and structure. She’s quick to bond but can be shy at first, warming up steadily to new people. Sonora has done well being supervised around kids, but her enthusiasm for jumping and playful nipping means she belongs in an adult, dog-savvy home. Leaving her alone? She’ll need a secure, dog-proofed space since she’s not suited for apartment living or long stretches alone. As for cats, in past foster homes she mostly ignored them when supervised, though she was never left alone with them. Sonora thrives with routine and activity—a 6-foot fence is a must for her security. She’s looking for the right person or family who can give her structure, support, and lots of play. Your new best friend is just one click away.
