Hope is a 3 year and 9 month old female terrier mix with a medium build and a beautiful short tan coat. She is house trained, spayed, and her vaccinations are up to date. Although she can be shy, she’s friendly and affectionate once she trusts you. Hope is currently in Alexandria, LA and hoping to find a cat-free home where she can thrive.

About Hope

Meet Hope! She’s a medium-sized terrier mix, about 58 pounds, with a shiny tan coat and short fur. Hope was left at a vet’s office when she was young, and you can tell she’s been through a lot. She’s genuinely sweet but carries a deep shyness, especially with new people and tall men, likely a product of her past. Her barrier issues—barking or acting up behind fences—have started to fade since moving into foster care. Around other dogs, Hope is completely in her element, play-bowing to new canine friends and eager to swim, run, and romp. She isn’t fond of cats and would do best in a cat-free home. Hope listens well and picks up basic commands quickly. She’s house trained, walks nicely on leash, and has started to trust her foster family, especially once you’re in her circle. She does best in a calm environment with confident, experienced adopters who understand low-confidence dogs. Kids should be older—she’ll get overwhelmed if things get too noisy. Hope would love an outdoorsy couple to explore trails and rivers with her and maybe another friendly dog to help her confidence grow further. Underneath the nerves, she’s warm and goofy—she may just make someone the world’s most loyal companion. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
