About Sam

Sam is one of 29 dogs rescued in North Alabama after their caretaker was hospitalized, leaving them in a tough spot. When staff and volunteers from Big Dog Ranch arrived, the dogs were scared and unsure, but not aggressive—just overwhelmed by all the change. Now settled at Big Dog Ranch, Sam is getting the medical attention, nourishing meals, and gentle care he needed. Some days are about learning to trust new people and discovering that a kind touch or a slow walk on the leash isn’t so bad. He’s starting to relax, adjusting to structure and patient attention. Sam gets along well with other dogs and is slowly showing his naturally sweet personality to the staff. He’s ready to find a home where he’ll finally have stability and can share the affection he’s got stored up. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
