About Stuart
Stuart is a 5-year-old Labrador Retriever mixed-breed dog whose journey has had a few bumps, but he still has plenty of love to give. After first arriving from Palm Beach County, Stuart found a home, but came back to the rescue when his resource guarding became a challenge for his adopters. That doesnโt make him a bad dogโit means he needs someone who understands dogs, is willing to set clear boundaries, and manages routines calmly and consistently. Stuart's resource guarding mostly shows up around food and toys, and this habit requires an adopter with experience and patience. He does best in an adult-only household, or with people committed to respecting his boundaries. Stuart actually enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to cuddle with his humans when he feels safe. He is not a fit for homes with cats due to his prey drive, nor with children. House-trained and responsive to basic commands, Stuart thrives with clear direction and structure. Underneath his quirks is a deeply affectionate companion for a knowledgeable adopter willing to put in the time. Born May 24, Stuart is a Geminiโno surprise heโs clever and quick to learn.
