About Ranger

Ranger had a rough start—abandoned and scared, he spent weeks on the run before he found his footing with a kind family. He finally landed at Big Canoe Animal Rescue, where he’s learning the ropes of trust and stability. Ranger still gets anxious and timid sometimes, but once he feels safe with you, he’s loyal and quick with kisses. He really enjoys the company of other dogs, especially in the dog park or lounging in his kiddie pool. Give him a leash and he walks nicely, though he’s still getting used to all the routines of home life. He’d thrive in a calm household, ideally with another friendly, relaxed dog to keep him company and show him the ropes. That initial adjustment may take time, but Ranger’s worth the patience. Let’s make it official, apply to adopt!

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Ranger’s mix appreciates regular access to outdoor areas, whether it’s a secure backyard or daily visits to a dog park. He will really enjoy open space to stretch his legs but doesn’t require a massive yard.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Labrador Retriever/Hound mixes like Ranger are often gentle and can be good with kids, especially if properly socialized. However, his initial shyness means a quieter household or older children might be a better fit at first.
