Rescued in 2022 from an overcrowded, high-kill shelter in South Carolina, Duchess has been with us for three long years, yet her loyalty remains fierce. She is extremely loving and wonderfully devoted once she opens up to her people, thriving in a secure and consistent environment. Due to her past, Duchess initially struggled with her appetite, but we quickly learned she needs a small, daily medication to help her maintain a healthy zest for food-which she now adores! She is good with other dogs and is incredibly charming, but she does best with slow and steady introductions to new people so she can build trust but once you've earned her affection, she blossoms, often greeting her favorite people with an excited, enthusiastic hug-jump! Duchess has a true hound heritage and loves to talk, offering big, expressive sighs that will speak right through you. This loving girl just needs a family ready to treat her like the royalty she is.
