About Johnnynew Update!
Johnny is being fostered in Virginia. He’s a small, sweet, and easygoing dog who lost his home in Texas after catastrophic flooding, eventually finding his way into rescue care. Despite blindness and a long journey through multiple states and foster homes, Johnny has stayed remarkably gentle and well-mannered the entire time. His copper-colored, short fur gives him a striking, warm look. Johnny is crate trained, almost fully house trained, travels well in the car, and delights in routine—especially mealtimes and 'sofa time' with his foster family and a pack of calm dogs. He easily settles through the night and rarely barks, only getting vocal when dinner's on the way. He gets along well with other dogs and ignores cats. He hasn't lived with children, and would do best in a home with adults or older kids. Inside and outside, Johnny is calm, only wanting to sniff around a bit before coming in. He needs a bit of help navigating steps. Medical-wise, Johnny arrived with some hair loss (likely from prior fleas) and minor lumps, but all have been checked and aren't currently a concern. He’s had a dental, is heartworm negative, and bloodwork and heart checks are good. Johnny developed mild vestibular syndrome recently—he sometimes has a head tilt and circles, but these symptoms are improving and aren’t life-threatening. As he ages, he could use a patient home that checks in on little bumps, watches out for the occasional mild cough, and just enjoys having a very gentle, low-key soul in their daily life. His vision is gone, but he hears fine and seems happy just to be around his people. Johnny hopes someone will look past the head tilt, see who he is at heart, and give him a warm, safe home to settle in at last. He’s loving, easy to care for, and after all he’s been through, just deserves a chance to rest and be loved. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!

Questions about Johnnynew Update!
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Johnny, as a Chihuahua and Jack Russell Terrier mix, does best in a calm, secure home where routines are consistent. He appreciates a fairly quiet household and would thrive in an environment without too many stairs due to his needs.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Johnny is content with a small yard or regular walks; high-energy play isn’t essential for him, though he enjoys brief sniffing outdoors. A safe, enclosed area is ideal since he cannot see.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chihuahua and Jack Russell Terrier mixes can be good with children, but Johnny would do best in adult-only homes or with older children, given his blindness and preference for quiet surroundings.
