About Nico Paws Behind

They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply? Nico is an 8-year-old, 65-pound Mastiff/Malinois mix whose journey hasn't been easy. After being adopted at two, he found happiness with a loving family who took him out for fun adventures. Unfortunately, during the Covid pandemic, his family's circumstances changed, and they could no longer keep two large breed dogs. Nico is exceptionally well-trained, thanks to the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program. He knows all his basic commands and even some advanced ones like "peak," "place," and scent work. While his energy level is low, he really enjoys leisurely walks and spending quiet time in the woods. He's looking for a dog-savvy owner as he thrives best with someone who can build a strong bond with him based on mutual respect. Nico is very smart, loyal to his chosen person, and, due to his prey drive and past experiences, he would be happiest as the only dog in his new home. This wonderful boy dreams of a peaceful home with a comfy dog bed, a securely fenced yard for soaking up the sun, and the occasional car ride (especially with a drive-thru treat at the end). The hustle and bustle of the training facility can be overwhelming for him, so a quiet and steady environment would be ideal. Nico's adoption fee is sponsored. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
