Nico is an 8 year of age, 65 pound Mastiff / Malinois mix. His life has been anything but easy. He was adopted out at 2 years of age and found a family that enjoyed outings and loved him dearly, but when hard times hit with Covid, they had to downsize to an apartment and couldn't keep two large breed dogs. Nico is impeccably trained with basic obedience training from the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program. He knows basic commands and also levels up with commands such as "peak," "place" and scent work. He is low energy level, enjoys walks and loves the woods. He is loyal to his "bonded person" and is looking for a dog savvy owner to build that mutual respect. He is very intelligent and because of his prey drive and past experiences, we would prefer to see him as an only dog. He would love a home with a comfy dog bed, a fenced yard for sunning on those beautiful days and an occasional car ride through a drive thru. Yes, he looooves a good drive thru treat! Nico is sometimes hesitant about the busy environment of the prison and would love nothing more than to "break out" and get into a home where he can live out his years enjoying peace, walks and a quiet life!
