About Colt

Colt has survived more in six months than most dogs do in a lifetime. This large, 45-pound collie mix came through flooding and parvo as the only survivor of his litter, and he’s grown into a gentle, resilient, playful pup. In his foster home, Colt is both the life of the party and the king of cuddles, happy to romp around the yard, wrestle with his squeaky toys, or curl up on the couch like he’s the family’s weighted blanket. He gets along with everyone—dogs, cats, and even kids—but still needs reminders about his size when playing with smaller animals. With consistent training, his puppy habits are fading and he’s settling into being a polite houseguest. Colt is fully housebroken, crate trained, and working steadily on leash manners and basic commands. He can be a little shy in new situations, but a few minutes and some patient encouragement help him warm up. The ideal home is within 80 miles of Adams, NY, with patient adopters and maybe older children or teens who give him space to adjust at his own pace. Existing pets should be current on vet care, and a fenced yard is a plus but not mandatory. Colt’s had his vet check, is current on vaccines, and neutered. You can foster or adopt him, but all family members should come for a meet and greet. Colt is ready to start his new life and just needs someone willing to show him what a safe, loving home feels like. Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin!
