With his excellent leash walking skills, you will be delighted to find that Petey is walking right with you without tugging you everywhere. For avid walkers, Petey is a great candidate. He is still a young boy, just around a year old with all the energy and drive that pre-adult dogs exhibit. His leash-grabs and mouthiness from overstimulation is something we see a lot from dogs who are not getting the attention and exercise they so badly need. Surrendered by his owner who found him as a stray, Petey had been relegated to very long hours of crating in a home with three kids. He is presumed to be deaf, but it is difficult to say definitively since dogs rely so much more on their sense of smell. Although he seems to be a good partner with some dogs, Petey may be too much for small dogs and a better fit for older children. He is at an age where dogs can be a real challenge as they are testing to see what they can get away with. You can visit the dogs from noon - 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays, otherwise by appointment.
