About Wapiti
Meet Wapiti! Wapiti is a large, athletic coonhound/pointer mix who turns heads with his looks and makes friends with his easygoing, playful vibe. He weighs around 60 pounds and was born in early 2024, so he's still young and eager for adventure. Wapiti got his name from the Shawnee word for white rump elk—and he lives up to it by leaping fences like a champ. If you have a yard, you'll want one with a 5-foot fence. He loves having canine company and gets along with both dogs and cats. Playtime is big for him, and so are belly rubs when it's time to slow down. He's sharp, picks up new commands quickly, and will melt into a goofy slide when asked to lie down. He sports an unmistakable howl for any squirrel or rabbit sighting. Wapiti's passing marks at doggie daycare show his social side is just as strong as his energy. He doesn't love car rides or crates yet, but his foster is helping him build confidence there. Like any pup, he needs chew toys on hand—he can chew through the cheap stuff. Wapiti is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and ready to be the loyal, energetic companion in your life.
