Snoopy is a young hound shepherd mix who was brought to another Orange County shelter as a stray, but the "finder" called later to admit that he was the owner. When the shelter informed the owner that his dog tested positive for parvo, he said he could not handle taking care of that and the shelter was unable to make further contact with him. Snoopy was scheduled for euthanasia at 4 PM per the shelter email sent asking rescues to help him. We were able to arrange his rescue two hours before his death deadline. We took Snoopy directly to a 24-hour veterinarian hospital for treatment but all testing for parvo came back negative. This false positive result has happened before, and we know firsthand that these tests are not 100% reliable. In Snoopy's case, the false positive is suspected to have been a result of him being vaccinated the day before at the original shelter. We are just so happy we were able to save this sweet puppy and look forward to finding him a loving family for the rest of his life. The AALOC team has already tagged Snoopy as a shelter favorite saying he is so sweet and gentle. This lanky, good-looking pooch with the adorable “love me” face, long Snoopy-like ears and extra-large paws currently weighs 40 pounds. We would expect him to be a larger dog when he is fully grown.
