About Fonzie
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Fonzie is a striking small red Chihuahua mix who first arrived at the rescue a bit overwhelmed. With a little patience, his true playful nature began to shine through. Fonzie is social with other dogs and enjoys interacting with the volunteer staff, reflecting his adaptive, youthful charm. He came in as a stray, so there is no known background, but Fonzie has shown himself to be engaging and eager to find someone he can trust. A gentle soul, he may need a bit of time to open up fully and build trust—he can be a little nippy about certain things until he’s comfortable with you. To help ensure the perfect match, a trial period before adoption is welcomed. Like many rescue dogs, Fonzie’s housetraining is uncertain, but with positive reinforcement, consistency, and praise, he should find it easy to adjust to a new routine. His adoption fee includes a health exam, vaccinations (including rabies, as permitted by age), altering, professional grooming, microchipping, as well as a gift bag with a collar or harness, leash, and quality starter kibble. By adopting Fonzie, you’re not only giving him a family, but you’re also helping the rescue continue to help other homeless dogs in need. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Fonzie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chihuahuas typically do well in small homes or apartments, as they don’t require a lot of space. They thrive in environments where they receive plenty of attention and love from their owners.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Chihuahua mixes are well-suited to living without a yard, though they enjoy walks and outdoor playtime. Supervised time outdoors for exercise is ideal, especially due to their small size.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chihuahuas can do well with older, respectful children but may be too delicate or nippy for very young kids. Early socialization and supervision help them adjust to family life.
