About Pony Girl
Pony Girl, named after that memorable line in The Outsiders, has seen the hardest side of life. Her eyes tell the whole story—mistreated and neglected for years, she’s lost most of her coat, and it may never return. But her spirit is still there. Pony Girl was locked away in a basement crate for days at a time before a kind, yet ailing, man rescued her into his upstairs space, though her medical needs went unaddressed. When he moved into a nursing home, she was left alone, surviving with a doggy door and the sporadic care of neighbors until rescue stepped in. Weeks at the vet and a stint in boarding helped start her healing, but it’s her current foster home that’s taught us how much affection she still craves. She struggles with separation anxiety and is wary of crates, so Pony Girl needs a home where people are around most of the time, ideally with another dog for company. She adores both dogs and people, is housebroken, and walks well on leash. Her chronic skin condition requires regular medicated baths and ongoing treatment, which she tolerates bravely. She may always need this extra care, and her fur might never fully grow in. Despite all this, Pony Girl’s only agenda is love. Giving her a home means welcoming a gentle, affectionate survivor who simply wants companionship and understanding. Make her future brighter after everything she’s endured. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
