About Rosie
Rosie is a blue heeler and German shepherd mix who landed in rescue after being found as a stray in Bedford County, VA. She takes her time warming up to new people and dogs, but once you’re in, you’ll find she’s an affectionate companion. Rosie has a high prey drive—if there’s a squirrel or deer nearby, her recall can be hit or miss, so anyone adopting her needs to be alert about that. She’s happiest with a moderate level of activity. While Rosie does enjoy relaxing and playing with her toys, she can be rough, so homes with very small children wouldn’t be the best fit. She’s been comfortable with a dog-savvy older child though, getting along well together. Rosie is crate trained, house trained, and does well on a leash. At about 2 years old and 50 lbs, she’s up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and current on preventatives. She seems comfortable around other dogs if introductions are handled slowly, though she hasn’t clicked with every dog she’s met. She has not been cat tested, but given her prey drive, a home without cats is best. Rosie is looking for a steady hand who can give her time to build trust and help her feel secure.
