About CoCo
Meet Coco, a hound mix in East Hampton, NY, whose gentle soul shines once he feels secure. Adopted out as a puppy and returned in early 2023 when his family’s circumstances changed, Coco has spent his days steadily regaining trust and showing his affectionate side to everyone at the shelter. He approaches new people with caution, but his transformation into a bundle of joy—wiggling, grumbling with delight, and even hopping during walks—is rewarding to witness once you’ve earned his trust. Coco is recovering from an ACL injury, taking rehab in stride and working calmly with his therapy team. He knows basic commands, walks nicely on leash, and saves his enthusiastic greetings for familiar friends. Coco does best as the only animal in the home, as he can be reactive around other dogs, especially during his recovery. He needs a calm, patient, adult-only household willing to commit to his continued healing, daily mental enrichment, and a prescription diet. If you’re ready to build a trusting bond and offer structure, Coco promises steadfast loyalty and affection. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Coco benefits from access to a yard or regular walks in open areas. Moderate outdoor space will suit him well, especially as he recovers from his ACL injury.
