Ennis is FIV positive. FIV in cats is like HIV (the human immunodeficiency virus) and causes a feline disease that is like AIDS in humans. Although FIV is like AIDS in humans it is a highly species-specific virus that infects only felines. While there is currently no definitive cure for FIV in felines, with proper care there is no reason a cat infected with FIV cannot live a very normal, healthy life for years -- if managed appropriately.
