Big Red is a medium-sized, adult male tabby cat with eye-catching orange and white short fur. He currently resides at the Acadiana Humane Society and is looking for a safe outdoor placement. Previously neutered through a TNR program, he is best suited to someone with experience caring for feral cats.

About Big Red

Your new best friend is just one click away. Big Red is a striking adult male tabby with beautiful orange and white coloring. He and his littermate were left behind at a gentleman's property in Baton Rouge when they were younger. While his sister has since found her home, Big Red remains in need of a loving, safe outdoor environment. Around his caretaker, Big Red is gentle and sweet, but he tends to run from unfamiliar people, making him best suited for those with feral cat experience. He has already been neutered through a local TNR program and is currently living outdoors due to housing changes. The ideal new home for Big Red is one where he can continue living outside, and his adopter should be comfortable with trapping and relocating a shy cat. He truly needs an experienced and understanding hand to give him a second chance. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Big Red

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

The tabby cat is quite adaptable and can thrive both indoors and outdoors, though those with feral backgrounds often do best in safe outdoor environments or barns with proper shelter and food.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Tabby cats, especially those accustomed to outdoor life, benefit from ample space to roam, explore, and hunt. A secure backyard, farm, or managed outdoor area is ideal.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Tabby cats can do well in homes with children if they are socialized from a young age. However, shy or semi-feral cats may prefer quieter households without young kids.
