About Roxanne

Roxanne is a classic German Shepherd in both looks and nature: striking, loyal, and very much a pack dog. Around six years old, she is at her happiest when surrounded by dogs and people. Roxanne’s previous home didn’t offer structure, which led to her picking up some common breed behavior issues—but since arriving at rescue she’s shown she’s quick to learn when boundaries and routine are provided. Her surrender wasn’t her fault; she simply defended herself from repeated aggression by a small dog in the home, and her owners decided to let her go before things got worse. Roxanne absolutely thrives in a balanced pack. She gets along well with other dogs and genuinely enjoys their company as much as she likes hanging out with people. Walks, hikes, car rides, and new experiences are some of her favorite things. She is eager to please, learns quickly, and responds enthusiastically to praise, food, or a fun toy. She’s house and crate-trained, does well on a leash, and has stellar recall. With hundreds of dog interactions, Roxanne has shown she understands dog social cues well. Meeting new people? No problem. She has some classic German Shepherd initial wariness with strangers, but nothing out of the ordinary: she reads the room and takes her cues confidently. Roxanne would do best with an active, dog-savvy family willing to keep up her training, daily routine, and provide a fenced yard. She has not done well with cats in the past. Children are fine—she’s playful and gentle. After a day of adventure, she settles in for a cuddle and loves to be loved, showing her sweet and goofy side. Roxanne is spayed and current on vaccinations. Ready for her next home, Roxanne is just looking for someone who’ll help her live the balanced, joyful life she deserves.
