Zaya
AvailableZaya is a female, medium-sized, brindle and white/cream Mountain Cur mix in Martinsburg, WV. She has a short coat and is house trained. Zaya is spayed, and her vaccinations are up to date. While she does not have special needs now, she will need future surgery to remove a damaged front leg.
About Zaya
Zaya is about three years old and has already been through more than most dogs ever will. She was rescued from a high-risk shelter with her puppies, bearing the signs of past abuse and a number of untreated injuries—her front leg shattered beyond repair, a torn ACL, and a broken canine tooth. She's recently finished treatment for heartworm and Lyme disease, and her leg will need to be amputated soon; the rescue will cover all her medical needs until she’s truly well. Despite all her challenges, Zaya is remarkably loving. She’s wary of sudden movements and loud sounds, and is nervous around men until she feels safe, so her future home should be gentle and understanding. Kids in the household need to be 10 or older. Her greatest joy is simple: being petted and loved, even if her constantly wagging tail knocks things around. She lives with another dog right now and plays happily with her canine friend, but her feelings about cats are unknown. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
