Meet Six. After spending six months surviving on a hillside, Six has finally found stability. He lost his lifelong person, then tried to escape it all—he fled and managed to vanish for months. Eventually, word trickled back that a lone dog was hiding out on a college campus. With some patience, the searchers earned his trust and brought him to a safer spot, so his real recovery could begin. Six knows what it means to be part of a home—he already understands commands like Sit and Shake. Once he feels safe, he’s happy to lean in for a pet and can be affectionate. He’s had a rough time bouncing between homes, shelters, and nearly a year outdoors, so new places and sudden changes can be tough for him. Over the last few months, he’s shown real progress. He’s now joining pack walks, meeting new people (men take a bit longer to earn his trust), and he’s always food motivated. He learns best when things stay calm and predictable. Despite his seven years, he acts like a much younger dog, always eager to play or soak up attention. He gets along with other dogs and prefers gentle play over conflict. Six is looking for a committed foster or adoptive home ready to help hone his real-world skills. He’d do best with a steady, balanced dog companion and older children. He is a high flight risk and needs someone both loving and extremely vigilant—crating when unattended and never left loose, always leashed outside, and doors/windows monitored.
