Coral is a large, young female mixed breed Ibizan Hound/Pointer, currently in Jamul, CA. At just under four years old, she’s spayed, vaccinated, and house trained. Coral gets along well with cats and children, but not with other dogs. Her enthusiastic spirit and trainable nature make her a remarkable companion for the right home.

About Coral

Coral’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was first seen darting through the hills near a freeway, scared and wearing a shiny new harness, but wary of help. For weeks, Coral evaded rescue—slipping in and out of sight, sometimes accepting food but never staying long. Eventually, months later and minus her harness, she was humanely trapped. Despite clear signs that someone once cared for her, no one claimed her during her time at the shelter. She’s a large, leggy young dog—with expressive eyes and a goofy, silly energy that’s hard to ignore. Coral adores people, especially children, and happily greets kids front and center at events. She’s eager to show off a whole roster of circus tricks: sit, down, shake (both paws), high five, wave, roll over, and leave it, all done with lightning enthusiasm. Training comes easy when treats are involved—she’ll give you a blank slate to shape with structure and consistency. Safety is critical for Coral. She’s a major flight risk and can’t be left unattended in a yard. Crate training is a must when you leave, a firm grip on the leash is needed for outings, and vigilance with doors and windows is non-negotiable. She can’t join you for off-leash activities where there isn’t a fence. Coral gets along with cats and kids, but not other dogs. She’s house trained and ready to find a place where she can settle in, stay safe, and bring someone a bit of her goofy sparkle. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Coral

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Ibizan Hound/Pointer mixes like Coral tend to thrive in active homes that provide structure and regular human interaction. Because of her size and energy, a home with ample indoor space and a secure fenced area is ideal, though care must be taken with open areas due to her flight risk.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Coral’s Ibizan Hound/Pointer mix background means she appreciates having access to a secure yard or ample walking locations, but she cannot be off-leash in unfenced spaces. Daily exercise on leash and plenty of mental enrichment will keep her happy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Coral shines with children and loves being the greeter when kids are around. This mix tends to do well with respectful, dog-savvy children, making her a strong candidate for family homes.
