About Xena

Xena is a medium-coated, tricolor Akita mix who has picked up a remarkable list of skills during her time at Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center. She’s unfazed by grooming—brushing, bathing, cleaning ears, or nail trims are no big deal to her. She’s also mastered leash walking and basic obedience: down, sit, come, shake, and roll over. Treadmill sessions don't faze her, either. Her favorite pastime is learning something new and playing fetch. Treats and bones are high on her priority list, keeping her both busy and motivated. With new dogs and people, she does best with proper introductions, and she thrives when given clear structure and positive engagement. Right now, Xena enjoys two thirty-minute walks a day, plus some treadmill time to burn off energy. She recently completed an eight-week training course with her handler as part of the Pups On Parole Program and is ready for her next chapter. A home check and adoption fee apply.
