Meet Rufus, a true survivor with a heart as big as his spirit! 💖 This sweet little guy has experienced more than his fair share of challenges, but he’s ready to turn the page to a new chapter filled with love and adventure. Rufus was rescued from a dire situation where his small size almost cost him his life. Can you believe that? But, just like a phoenix rising from the ashes, he has persevered! At just 1.5 years old and weighing in at about 15 lbs, Rufus carries a unique charm. Though he can see shadows, he is functionally blind—likely due to some past trauma. We don’t know what caused it, but a vet suspects he may have endured a hard hit to the head. 😢 Despite this, Rufus does not let his blindness dim his spark! Sure, he may be a bit timid and shy at first, but give him a moment, and you’ll be rewarded with his affectionate nature and playful antics. Rufus is a curious little beagle—his nose just loves to explore! However, without a fence, his human friends have found it tricky to keep him safe. They had been keeping him on a run, but realized he deserves a life that allows him to freely romp and play. Rufus is great with other dogs and adores their company. 🐾 He loves nothing more than pouncing on toys and chewing away happily by your side. If there's a chew toy in the vicinity, you can bet he’s the first one diving into the fun! Rufus is all set to arrive in Massachusetts in early June, so his new family will need to be ready to embrace him into their hearts. A little leash training will be on the agenda because Rufus is still getting the hang of it.
