Found last May at a mere 22 pounds—barely clinging to life and riddled with shotgun pellets—her rescuer initially thought she was gone. Can you believe it? We still can't! Smoots suffered starvation, endured shooting, and was even heartworm positive. When she was rushed to the vet, they anticipated a gentle farewell. But instead, she looked up with those big, soulful brown eyes, pleading for a chance at life—and she got it! The vet called her angel seeking help for her medical care, not expecting much but Smoots had other plans. As she recovered, it became evident just how incredibly sweet and loving she truly is. Now, Smoots has put on weight, bravely faced heartworm treatment, and undergone several surgeries to remove pellets, although one remains lodged in her nose. The best part? It doesn’t stop her from living a healthy, happy life filled with love! Today, Smoots is a vibrant 42 pounds of heartwarming affection.
