Oh, let me tell you about a beautiful soul named Smokey! 🌟 This purebred Silver Lab is just 1.5 years old and, boy, does he have a story to share! Smokey found himself in a bit of a jam when his previous owner faced some heart-wrenching losses. It was simply too much for her to bear, and sadly, she couldn’t provide the kind of care he needed. Imagine a big guy like Smokey—around 75-90 pounds of love—struggling with feelings that he didn’t completely understand. 😢 Now, Smokey truly needs a special home where he can thrive. He should be your one and only dog—no other four-legged friends, please! Given his previous experiences, it's important that he lives with someone who understands dog training and can provide him the guidance he deserves. Poor Smokey picked up on the high-stress vibe of his former home, which led to some resource guarding and anxiety towards older dogs. Can you believe how perceptive these furry friends can be? 🐾 But here’s the silver lining! Smokey seems to know some basic commands, and he’s protective of “his” people. That loyalty is just heartwarming! ❤️ Although he might not have been around children, we believe he’d do best in an adult-only home where he can feel secure. With a good trainer and lots of love, Smokey can transform into the magnificent companion he was always meant to be! He’s been in our care since January 16th, and we've had the pleasure of watching him become more strong and confident. Please know that Smokey has not shown any issues with our all-female staff.
