Luther has a playful spirit but loves harder than you'll ever know. With a heart wide open, he hasn’t met a stranger he doesn’t want to charm—just like a true star! ✨ Now, let’s get real for a moment. Luther’s journey has been a tough one. He came to us just three weeks ago in dire straits, emaciated and burdened with sores and cuts. After being returned to the shelter following three years of neglect, he still has the sweetest spirit. All he longs for is to be that perfect companion to someone special. He deserves the world, and it’s time for his dreams to take flight! This BIG boy has a joyful, goofy personality. He’s still mastering the fine art of not using his human's shoulders as his personal stepping stool and is learning leash manners like a champ. Think of him as a puppy in an adult's body, still eager to learn the ropes of living in a loving home. An active environment is what he craves—he's not a fan of just 30-minute walks three times a day. He wants to keep moving and grooving! 🏃‍♂️ Luther would thrive with a dog sibling who is fast and has a submissive personality. He generally gets along better with female dogs, but proper handling can make harmony possible with males, too! 🚀 Just a heads-up: small animals excite him a bit too much, so a home without cats would be ideal. This stellar dog has been through the wringer but still shines brighter than ever. He’s currently in day training to help him socialize, sharpen his dog skills, and gain confidence in his own skin. While he shows a little food insecurity due to past starvation, he’s learning to feel safe around other dogs. His new adopter will need to follow a management plan to ensure all goes smoothly so he doesn’t develop any guarding tendencies with resident pups.
