About Dakota

Meet Dakota, the sweet and gentle 14-month-old Terrier mix, weighing in at a delightful 23 pounds! 🌟 This adorable boy is on a quest to discover the world, and he’s searching for a calm, patient home to help him do just that—at his own pace. ❤️ Dakota came into rescue with his sister, Nyxi, after their dad was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment, making this loving pup even more special. Dakota has a heart of gold and thrives in the company of others! 🐾 He absolutely adores playtime with his canine friends and gets along great with cats too! This good boy has been successfully house trained and has never known the confines of a kennel; he’s accustomed to being part of the household, which is just so heartwarming! Now, Dakota has lived a quiet life, and many everyday experiences are still quite new to him, including wearing a leash. 🐶 When one is put on him, he freezes! Because of this, he will need a physically fenced yard—a place where he can feel safe and secure while he builds his confidence with your gentle support. This darling is best suited for a quiet, adult-only home and prefers a serene environment where life flows at a lovely, predictably slow pace. 🌈 If you have the understanding and patience for shy dogs and take joy in watching confidence bloom, Dakota could be the perfect companion for you! He’s just waiting for the right home to help him feel truly safe and loved. And just to sweeten the deal, Dakota is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. So, if you’re ready to bring some joy into your life, please make sure to *apply through the Buddy App* for the chance to meet this wonderful boy! 🏡❤️ Remember, adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA, and indoor homes only will do for Dakota. His adoption fee is $300. So, why wait? Apply to adopt Dakota through the Buddy App today! 🐶✨
