About Nami

Meet Nami, a beautiful 3-year-old girl who has faced her share of challenges. After spending two long months in a shelter—a time that took a toll on this gentle soul—she lost over five pounds. That's quite a bit when you're only 45 pounds to start with! Life in a shelter can be overwhelming, especially for a pup like Nami who has spent her whole life in the comfort of a loving home. When our fantastic volunteer first met her, Nami was easy to leash and walk, showing no reactivity to the other dogs bustling around the shelter. In the play yard, she was a little nervous, but she climbed right into our volunteer’s lap, offering kisses and soaking up every drop of affection! 💖 We're just so overjoyed that she’s now in a foster home, decompressing and beginning to feel truly safe and loved. Nami has adapted beautifully in her foster home! She's already displaying her impressive manners—this girl is potty trained and knows commands like sit, down, shake, roll over, and stay! Talk about a smart cookie! 🍪 She walks well on a leash, with minimal pulling, and has a moderate energy level, perfect for daily adventure walks. While she hasn't shown any destructive tendencies, she might just be a little tempted to counter surf if left unchecked! (You know, it’s that ‘I just want the treat’ face!). She responds really well to verbal correction and food redirection. Though she experienced slight separation anxiety and doesn’t love her crate (who does?!), she is otherwise an easy-going and delightful companion. This affectionate girl lives for belly rubs, long walks, and cozy cuddles with her favorite humans! She’s mostly indifferent to the other dogs she encounters outside but truly shines in human connection. 💕 Nami could fit seamlessly into the life of a busy, young adult, a retired couple, or a family with children aged 7 and older, given her history concerning food guarding. A bustling household will suit her just fine, as long as she has her people nearby to reassure her. While she would thrive as an only dog, Nami could also live with another dog after a proper meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit. Cats? They remain a mystery for her! Nami is a gentle, loving soul who truly just wants to feel safe again—and once she gets that, her gratitude will shine through in endless affection.
