Meet the incredible Carlito, a true miracle and an absolute joy! This remarkable feline started his journey as a community stray in Brooksville but showed up at his feeder's doorstep, weak and in dire need of help. On June 18, 2024, he crawled up those steps, bleeding from his left front leg as if he were calling out for a second chance at life. Rushed to the ER, the vets discovered multiple old wounds and fresh bites, likely from a dog or snake. They made the tough decision to amputate his leg to save him, and while he was under anesthesia, they neutered him and gave him the ear tip that says "Yes, I’m a survivor!" After a week of tender care at the ER, Carlito's charming feeder knew he deserved more than just to be released back outside. She took him in and nurtured him back to health in her home, where he thrived! Fast forward to November 26, 2024, when his next miraculous chapter began with us. The vet visit revealed he had previously battled hookworms but has since made a full recovery. And yes, he tested positive for FIV, but trust us, that’s not a death sentence! Carlito is a lover, not a fighter, and can happily coexist with both FIV positive and negative cats—he's just too charming to cause trouble. After a little R&R, Carlito even got a dental check-up and only needed one tooth extracted! He’s settled in beautifully at the sanctuary, making friends with our other feline residents. It’s almost like he’s the unofficial therapist, as there’s always a cat or three whispering sweet nothings in his ear, cuddling, or taking part in mutual grooming sessions. While he may have initially hesitated around dogs, he has opened up to our gentle giant and would probably excel in a loving home that respects his boundaries. Amputation? Please! This spirited boy can leap to the tops of cat trees and navigate the house like a pro! The second Carlito spots his foster mom, he’s off to block her path, rolling over to display his belly for pets. Just picture that! If he’s been waiting too long, he goes door to door calling for her—his adorable way of requesting all the love he deserves. While Carlito loves his sanctuary life, he’s ready to find his forever family, someone who will cherish him and give him the undivided attention his heart craves.
