A Yorkipoo is a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, one of the many small Poodle mixes that became popular in the past few decades as companions with low-shedding coats. Because it is a cross rather than a breed, size and looks vary: most adults weigh roughly 4 to 15 pounds, with Miniature Poodle crosses at the larger end, and coats run from silky and slightly scruffy to curly.
Many Yorkipoos are friendly, playful and people-oriented, mixing the Poodle's quick mind with the Yorkie's spunk. They can be enthusiastic barkers and may get anxious when left alone for long hours. Their small frames are easily hurt by rough play, so they often suit adults and families with older children best, along with owners ready for regular grooming.
