Husky is a label for northern sled-dog types more than a single breed. A dog listed as a husky is usually a Siberian Husky or a Siberian mix, though some are Alaskan huskies, a mixed racing type, or carry some Alaskan Malamute. Most weigh 35 to 70 pounds and share erect ears, a thick double coat, a brush tail and sometimes striking blue or mismatched eyes.
These dogs were built to run long distances in a team, and that shapes daily life. They're friendly and social, but also independent, vocal and quick to chase, dig or slip out of a gate. The dense coat sheds heavily and suits Cleveland's cold far better than a stuffy apartment in July. Age, size and background vary a lot, so read each dog's profile rather than assuming the label tells the whole story.
