Miniature Bull Terriers have the Bull Terrier's egg-shaped head, triangular eyes and muscular, barrel-shaped build in a dog just 10 to 14 inches tall. They were developed in nineteenth-century England as ratters, and the AKC recognized them as a separate breed in 1991. The short, flat, harsh coat comes in white or in colors like brindle, red, fawn and tricolor, and sheds a low to moderate amount.
Minis tend to be clownish, loyal and mischievous, with a stubborn streak and a love of rough play. Some dislike unfamiliar dogs or chase small animals, and many bark readily. Steady, reward-based training pays off, especially in a city where dogs are leashed outside the yard. Dogs vary, so how a particular Mini behaves matters more than the breed label.
