The Miniature Poodle is the middle of the three Poodle sizes, standing over 10 and up to 15 inches tall. Poodles began as water retrievers in Germany and France, and the smaller sizes were later bred down as companions and performers. Beneath the famous clips is a squarely built, athletic dog with a dense, curly single coat that grows continuously and sheds very little, in solid colors from black and white to apricot, silver and red.
Miniature Poodles are often lively, alert and exceptionally quick to learn, with a strong desire to be involved in family life. That intelligence cuts both ways: bored Poodles can become noisy or demanding, while engaged ones excel at tricks, agility and obedience. Adopters should budget for professional grooming every few weeks and plan for daily walks, play and training.
