An Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, and size follows the Poodle parent: toy dogs around 10 pounds up to standards near 70. Coats are wavy or curly and come in colors from black and chocolate to merle. Size, coat and energy vary a lot from dog to dog, so judge the dog in front of you rather than the mix.
Both parent breeds are working dogs, so most Aussiedoodles want a job, whether that's fetch, hiking, swimming or learning tricks. Expect brushing every day or two and a professional trim every six to eight weeks. In a humid place like Honolulu, a damp curly coat mats easily, so dry it thoroughly after swims and rain. No dog is truly hypoallergenic, and Aussiedoodles are no exception.
