Boxers are muscular, square-built working dogs with a short, shiny coat, usually fawn or brindle, a black mask and a blunt, slightly undershot muzzle. They're loyal, playful and physical, and many are goofy well into adulthood. Because the breed is so popular, plenty of Boxers and Boxer mixes end up needing homes, and a dog's looks alone don't tell you its exact mix.
Care is mostly about energy, people and temperature. Expect daily exercise, patient reward-based training, and a dog that wants to live indoors with its family rather than out in a yard. The short coat needs little grooming, but the flat face and thin coat make Boxers sensitive to heat and cold. Each Boxer is different, so watch how a dog actually behaves, not just the breed description.
