Applehead is the everyday name for the traditional, old-style Siamese, a sturdier cat with a rounder head than the long-wedged show Siamese. Adults usually weigh 8 to 14 pounds, with a pale body, darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail, and vivid blue eyes. Many cats called appleheads are really pointed cats of Siamese ancestry, so looks can vary from one cat to the next.
Personality is the main draw. These cats tend to be talkative, clever and very attached to their people, and many dislike long stretches alone. The short coat needs only occasional brushing. In Virginia Beach, an indoor life with daily play, a tall cat tree and puzzle feeders keeps an Applehead busy and safe from traffic and the coyotes reported around the city.
