Applehead Siamese is the popular name for the traditional, old-style Siamese, a sturdier, rounder-headed cat than the long, wedge-headed Siamese seen in show rings today. The look goes back to the Siamese cats that first reached the West from Thailand in the late nineteenth century. Some registries recognize the type separately as the Thai, while many cats called appleheads are simply pointed cats of Siamese ancestry.
They have a pale body, darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail, and vivid blue eyes. Many are talkative, playful and clever, and they often dislike long stretches alone. The short coat takes little work. In SLC, that mix suits people who work from home or keep a flexible schedule.
