The Cornish Rex began in 1950 with a single curly-coated kitten born on a farm in Cornwall, England. Unlike most cats, it has only the soft down layer of fur, which lies in tight waves. That coat comes with a lean, arched body, long legs, an egg-shaped head and very large ears. Adults usually weigh 6 to 10 pounds.
Many Cornish Rex cats stay playful well into adulthood, fetching toys and following their people around the house. In Vegas, that means indoor life with climbing space, daily play and warm spots that offset strong air conditioning. The thin coat sheds little but isn't truly hypoallergenic, and it needs occasional baths and regular ear cleaning.
