Despite the name, the Balinese has no connection to Indonesia. It's essentially a longhaired Siamese, developed in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s and named for the graceful movement of Balinese dancers. The silky single coat lies close to the body and ends in a plumed tail, and the colorpoint pattern comes with vivid blue eyes. Both a sleeker modern type and a sturdier traditional type exist.
Many Balinese are bright, social and playful, and they like to be part of whatever you're doing. They're usually a bit quieter than Siamese but still chatty. With no dense undercoat, grooming is simple, though these cats generally don't enjoy long stretches alone. In a Vegas household, that means a cat who'll happily live indoors if there's something to climb, chase and solve.
