The Balinese is essentially a longhaired Siamese, developed in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s. The name comes from the graceful way Balinese dancers move, not from Indonesia. It has the Siamese colorpoint pattern, vivid blue eyes and a slender build, with a silky single coat that lies close to the body and ends in a plumed tail. Modern and traditional types both exist, so adult cats can look a little different from one another.
Many Balinese are social, playful and talkative, though usually a bit quieter than Siamese. They tend to want a share in whatever their people are doing. In Jackson, that makes them a good match for homes where someone is around often, with a cat tree and a few puzzle toys. Grooming is simple, but daily attention matters more than brushing, and each cat's personality varies, especially among adults.
