Applehead Siamese is the popular name for the traditional, old-style Siamese: a sturdier, rounder-headed cat than the long, wedge-headed Siamese of today's show rings. Its look echoes the Siamese cats that first reached the West from Thailand in the late nineteenth century. Some registries recognize the type separately as the Thai, though many cats called appleheads are simply pointed cats of Siamese ancestry.
Expect a pale body with darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail, and vivid blue eyes. Many are talkative, clever and affectionate, and they often dislike long stretches alone. The short coat takes little work. That mix of low grooming and high attention suits an apartment or small house where someone is home often.
