The Chinchilla look is a silver coloring most often seen on Persians: each long white hair is tipped with black, so the coat shimmers like frost. The line traces to an English cat named Silver Lambkin, born in 1882. Most registries treat chinchilla as a Persian color rather than a separate breed. The eyes are green or blue-green, often rimmed in dark pigment, and kittens start out blue-eyed.
Many Chinchillas share the Persian's calm, gentle, quiet temperament and like predictable routines. The coat takes real work: daily combing, regular baths and face cleaning. Plan as well for Persian health risks, including kidney disease and the breathing and eye problems tied to a flatter face. Cats vary, and some Chinchillas have a less extreme face than show-type Persians.
