Siamese cats trace back to Thailand, once called Siam, and reached the United States in the late 1800s. They're medium-sized, long-lined cats with a short, fine coat, a pale body, darker points on the face, ears, paws and tail, and vivid blue almond eyes. Many Siamese-mix cats share the coloring without the pedigree, and only registry papers confirm a true Siamese.
Personality is the draw. Many Siamese are talkative, clever and tightly attached to their people, and some turn loud or mischievous when bored. In San Bernardino, that favors a home with someone around much of the day, a cat tree by a window and puzzle toys for the hours when nobody is. Cats vary, so a Siamese or Siamese mix may be chattier or calmer than the usual description.
