Hi, I'm Winnie - a gentle little beagle learning what it means to truly be loved. For most of my life, I lived in a cage and was used for breeding, so the world still feels a little big and unfamiliar sometimes. Even so, I've discovered that I really do love people... especially the kind, patient ones who give soft pets and let me warm up at my own pace. I may be shy and submissive at first, but underneath that nervousness is the sweetest little heart. These days, my favorite thing is wandering around a fenced yard, following every interesting scent my nose can find. I trot along with my adorable little beagle walk, happily investigating the world one sniff at a time. Once I've finished my outdoor adventures, I'm ready for the best part of the day: curling up beside my person on the couch while we relax together. I love quiet companionship and tend to follow my humans around like a tiny shadow once I feel safe. New people can still make me nervous, and I sometimes shake when I'm scared. Loud noises or sudden movements aren't really my thing either. But if you give me a little time and patience, I slowly start to realize that I'm safe. I also really enjoy the company of calm, gentle dogs - they help me feel more confident. Toys are still a mystery to me, though I've picked up a few now and then while trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. I'm making wonderful progress with my routine and house-training when kept on a good schedule. I'm also learning stairs, although unfamiliar ones can still feel scary and I may need a helping hand. When my foster calls me in from the yard, I come running back with my floppy ears bouncing, and apparently, it's impossibly cute. I'd be happiest in a calm, quiet home - maybe with another mellow dog and a securely fenced yard where I can safely explore. Most of all, I need someone patient enough to let me blossom at my own speed. Once I trust you, I promise I'll be the sweetest little companion you could ask for.
